REFUGEE MINISTRIES

Refugee Ministries creates meaningful supportive, relationships between members of our community and former refugee families who have come to the United States fleeing war and danger. We work with families from the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Bhutan, Nepal, Burma, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Pakistan and Syria. These families are among the 1% of 20 million worldwide refugees who are lucky enough to be resettled to a third country (the U.S) where they stop being refugees and become permanent residents when they step off the plane.

A Welcoming Presence

When new families arrive, our community helps welcome them at the airport and furnishes their apartments. We provide ongoing support in a wide variety of ways, such as driving family members to doctor and other appointments, providing English tutoring, obtaining translation services, and any other assistance they might need to feel at home in the United States.

How to get involved

  • Make a financial contribution to All Saints’ and direct it to Refugee Ministries.
  • Volunteer to serve as a tutor (currently online via Zoom!)
  • Volunteer to help with our annual events, which include picnics, pool parties, and other fun outings.
  • Volunteer to help with resettlement activities to support families as they acclimate to life in the United States. Learn more >>
  • Participate in our donation drives. For example, each summer fall we typically collect furniture and home goods for newly arrived families and each December we collect Christmas gifts for the children and food card donations for the families.
